Neighbours ~ hand printed lithograph Irish landscapeThe image shows a typical scene in the west of Ireland. Your nearest neighbours may be a field or two away but they have lived there for generations and will always be available to lend a hand. I made this lithograph entirely myself from beginning to end, from the initial idea, through painting and processing the image on the litho stone, proofing and printing the edition. This is typical of the old traditional cottages which fit into the landscape so well

One possible explanation is that there was a mix up between the Irish for heaven which is 'neamh' and the Irish for poison  which is 'neimhe'

The image shows a typical scene in the west of Ireland

There is a much sadder history here too as many of the inhabitants were evicted by the landlord in the 1840's and were forced to leave their homes

I kept this in mind for ages thinking it would make a good lithograph
