Vintage 1940’s J&G Meakin Sky Blue Vegetable Tureen – Celeste Pattern AntiqueManufactured by J&G Meakin as part of the Glamour series during the 1940s this vintage lidded vegetable tureen is beautifully decorated in the Meakin Celeste range with sky blue colour highlighted by the presence of a scalloped rim with visible fluted surface along the verge as well as along the domed lid. This pattern design by J&G Meakin has long since been discontinued and is regarded today as a rare design. The tureen is stamped underneath Glamour

The jar has its original domed lift on / off lid with finial handle

The item is a tea plate manufactured by Wood & Sons during the 1970’s and decorated in their Sherwood pattern

By 1951 however

Tableware shapes include the famous Kestrel (introduced in 1932 and still in production in 1964) Curlew (1932)

a creamer / milk jug and even a cake / biscuit plate
