Fred Lebayle's handmade mouthpieces started showing up on the market in the 2000's. Fred, who recently passed away, worked with a virtual "who's who" of the NYC jazz scene making original designs that weren't simply copies of classic models. I find this to be a huge leap in design from the cavernous chambers of previous models that were stamped "air flow"

These were made for Doc by JJ Babbitt over 25 years ago and were made with a vintage core mold

Red Letter pieces are sought after for their work and the cool streamlined body shape

Please note that there is wear on the beak from teeth

and stamped 4 in the Florida tip font
