These medium vases start with the same amount of clay, and must have a flared rim, but besides these guides, I explore different shapes within these restrictions each is truly unique. This squat pot is made using a buff stoneware with the pinch and coil technique

Inside flared rim is glazed in a saturated metallic bronze glaze

Looks lovely as a fruit bowl centerpiece

The cobalt wash glaze leaves evidence of brush marks appearing as a watery surface

This piece was created from a wheel thrown body with hand painting

With a larger pot like this the base is allowed to firm and dry a bit to support the weight of the remaining coils- the process of building can stretch over two days
